I woke up at 4am so I could go to the office and work for an hour before departing for Turkey on a 7am flight. So excuse the glasses, no makeup, and disheveled look in most of the photos this first day. We flew on Jazeera Airlines with our KD20 ($77) bargain tickets I scored.
We checked into the Swissotel at the Bosphorus so we could drop our luggage. The hotel was right near the Taksim area in Istanbul which was full of wonderful shops and quant bars and restaurants. Luckily the weather the first day was amazing. So we snagged an outdoor table for lunch and bloody mary’s.
After that we just strolled around enjoying the weather and the sites and stocking up on food/drink supplies for the week.
Even though it was only 5ish we decided to stop at a really cool brasserie called Covva that we had seen earlier in the day for “one” drink. Our one turned into several and next thing we knew it was about 9 and we were all pretty tired.
Also the gorgeous weather had turned cold and rainy in an instant. So we borrowed a spare umbrella from Covva and trekked it back to the Swissotel with plans to tidy up and watch the jazz singer at the bar there. However once back we decided to call it an evening.
