Sunset Drives

Sometimes the drive to the destination is part of the fun.

Cross country road trips can be highly entertaining with the right people and the right amount of stops.

My favorite part is always when the sun starts to set. It lights up the surroundings.

And cast a gorgeous glow over everything. Beautiful.

Pit Stop in Nashville TN

Our road trip has been so much fun and it's just starting. We made a pit stop in Nashville for BBQ. What a fun place! Can't wait to go back again and enjoy the country music and nightlife.

Drought of 2012

Last year it was the Flood of 2011 this year it’s the drought of 2012! Seriously could we please get a break from these extreme weather events! Most of the corn in this region has withered and died or is well on its way. Sad.

By some pure stroke of luck (probably because of the abundance of flood water in the field last year) our farmer’s corn in Niobrara seems to be faring somewhat well.

Granted these photos are a few weeks old but even then the corn looked stellar compared to other fields I have seen.

For some crazy reason I just love corn fields. I always get excited when it’s a corn year and not a soybean year. Fields of corn bring back memories of childhood (and teen years) playing amongst the tall stalks. One of these days I will finally host a dinner in the midst of these stalks of corn! You truly feel like you are in the middle of an enchanted place,

Another Great Summer Weekend

I managed to cram a whole lot of fun into one small weekend (along with some downtime at the pool). Great times at the Springfield rodeo with my girly friends.

Followed by a day of Golf spectating at the Cox Classic.

I then capped the weekend off with an outdoor concert of Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw on a perfect summer evening.

Not too shabby! Lots of fun times with friends, the realization that I absolutely despise dating as most men I meet turn out to be complete jerks, and reconnecting with friends from the past that make you wonder “what if”. Hope everyone else had an amazing weekend as well!

Occasionally the cows will cooperate and play along with my photo shoot attempts.

I so should have brought them along treats (and I swear there are treats for cows) as a reward!

An Instagram Glimpse of the Weekend

I had a fantastic weekend! The perfect mix of fun and relaxation!! Hope everyone else did as well.  

Aged To Perfection

I want a barn – a vintage red barn to be specific, or maybe a light pink one……I want to host dinner parties and someday a wedding in said barn.

For some reason I always forget I kinda have a barn already. It’s red. It could be used to host dinner parties or a wedding. Just needs a little TLC.

Although several commented on Facebook that is quite perfect just the way it is with it’s weathered boards.

I even have a cool vintage wagon for photo opportunities.

Sunset Cruising

We just got a Polaris Ranger and I’m addicted. So fun zipping around town or out at the land on it

It’s also great for sunset cruising. Tooling around the back country roads right at that golden hour and watching the sun dip down below the trees. A perfect relaxing end to the day.

Omaha Color Run

Last Saturday was the Color Run in Omaha. I wasn’t sure what to expect and it was a crazy hot (in the 90’s day).

I am so glad I went. It was a BLAST!!! So much fun and a different change of pace from normal races (you weren’t even timed!).

There were different color stations along the route (every kilometer I think) where they would blast you with powdered color.

It was fun anticipating the next station and blast of cheerful color.

With a grand finale at the end.

Great great event and a fun time with friends. Bits of my skin are still dyed by the color though….

Finding my Motivation

Sadly I have been slacking big time in the fitness and healthy eating department. I just lost all mojo and in return gained a few lbs, not good my friends. For the past few weeks I am trying to get that inner exercise diva back to front and center. My runs haven’t been long nor have my workouts been anything to impress the gym rats but at least I am back to an almost daily exercise program. Thanks to my overflowing garden my veggie intake has outweighed my chocolate/carb intake. Baby steps right?? We have an awesome old track the city maintains in my neighborhood and I love going there for morning or late evening short easy runs, if I'm feeling extra energetic I even through in a few stair workouts for old times sake.

Vine Fresh Tomatoes & Cucumbers

Make delicious salads. A lil basil, a pinch of salt & pepper, a bit of mayo (although sure there are much healthier options I should explore) and a scrumptious healthy salad is all yours.
