IWCC Black Tie 2015

Last Saturday we had the Iowa Western Community College Black Tie fundraiser. I love going to this every year and my mom always makes the best date. It has become a tradition of sorts to go together.

 

I wanted something other than black this year so stepped a little outside the box with this dress but got tons of compliments which was a win!

I loved my mom's fun shorter sparkly dress as well. It was a gorgeous fun evening.

 

Huge bonus = peach belinis during happy hour that were delicious. I challenged myself to more or less a month of no drinking prior to the event to give the body a much needed restart so was fun to splurge on champagne and wine that evening!

 

 

The event itself was followed up by an after party at Glory Days which was a lot of fun also. And turns out green is the new black! Several other girls also choose green over black (although the pictures don't really show it as well)

 

 

Always so much fun getting all fancied up, helping to raise money, and socializing with friends!

Winter Half Marathon Fashion

 In a moment of weakness I signed up to run a half marathon with my cousin in Kansas City November 18^th. Hello cold!!!! In an effort to get myself excited about this possibly cold and long race I am thinking a new race outfit is a must. My new favorite addiction – Lululemon has these cute options….

I need things to match so can’t tell if I would be annoyed with the slight color difference in the purple/pinks of the pants and the long sleeve top?? Guessing I will wear a jacket regardless.

I really want that jacket – especially as the hood can be removed. But it’s so spendy. Anyone know of a discount code floating around??

This tank would be fun for use with the pants in the spring.

I also love this top! But sadly none available online in my size.

Same problem with this jacked - although maybe the store would have them in stock. Can the turquoise and purple mix? Lululemon you are going to break my bank account but at least you make me feel fashionable when torturing myself with long runs. There will of course be a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day as well so I could get double the use out of this new outfit race wise.

I’m Feeling Crafty

As the weather starts to cool outdoor activities will become less appealing and craft projects will start to entice me.

Lululemon Addiction

I have heard about Lululemon for several years and notice all the fit and fashionable athletic bloggers seem to live in this apparel. But I knew it would cost a small fortune and we don’t have a store in my area. Lucky for me, unlucky for my wallet, there was a store in Kansas where I was traveling for work. Amazing items were tempting me such as this running skirt:

All of their apparel was so function and girly I couldn't help but fall in love with several pieces. I decided to treat myself for finishing the Lincoln Half Marathon and also hopefully motivate myself to crank up my fitness routine. Jackpot!

Several skirts, tank tops, a pair of magic pants, and a jacket later I am ready for many fun runs and Y workouts! Any Lululemon addicts out there?

New Running Sneaks

New shoes make you faster right? I hope so as I Just designed and ordered these fun new sneakers:

Now I’m crossing my fingers and toes they come WAY before the 22-30 day suggested delivery. I really really need these for The Gambler (April 22) and Lincoln (May 6) Half Marathons!!! My old shoes are toast. I know real runners aren’t supposed to run with Nike shoes for some reason? However, I love Nike and it’s fun to design your own colors.

I have a really nice watch but it’s currently broken. Eventually I will be the proud owner of a Rolex or Cartier. But for now this would make me smile!!! Love the pop of pink!!! Even love it in gold for something different.

These Boots are Jinxed!

I ordered these lovely boots last May from the Fort Western in Lincoln. I was told 4-6 weeks. 8+ weeks passed with no boots. After several phone calls I was finally informed they were backordered and would arrive “maybe” in October. WHAT??? It is not ok for you to hold money until at least October, and even worse was that you never called to update me on this change. Epic Fail Fort!

Recently a local feed store in town Lakeside Country Store started carrying boots (thanks for the tip Carol) and I was elated to find the same boots on the shelf! Yipppeee these boots are mine after all (bonus I had Christmas money to spend). I was super excited when only a week later they arrived. I picked them up only to notice parts of the boot were dark like expected and parts were a weird light brown. The salesladies told me they were just dry in those spots and with oil they will be fine. No worries, I’ll just wait while you fix them or I can come back later to pick up if that works better. Nope – I was told to just buy the oil and fix myself. I am sorry but these are brand spanking new $200+ boots. I am not going to “fix” them myself before I even wear them. Guess it was not my destiny to own those boots! I am disappointed in the poor customer service of both the Fort and Lakeside.

Fresh start as I am now determined to find cute new boots. All my country Blogger friends have been raving about Lane Boots. And I am impressed with their selection, plus the turquoise soles make these the Christian Louboutin version of boots.

I am pretty certain I want turquoise in the mix. I have narrowed it down::

Am I a Farm Girl now?

I needed cold weather gear. It’s arctic here. Negative digits (or single digits at best) and crazy winds. Not good I am telling you.

On the plus side we were blessed with a nice round (or several rounds in Niobrara) of snow so everything looks pretty and sparkly white. I am dying to get out and breathe in the fresh air. But doing so requires major layering. A quick stop at Tractor Supply netted the following articles of clothing.



Your eyes are not deceiving you. I purchased Carhartt products. Who would’ve guessed? Definitely not I! But they are so darn warm and comfy and indestructible so perfect for outdoor adventures like sledding, snow shoeing, photography, etc…especially in the wild wild west known as Niobrara. Wearing them makes me feel like I should be going out to feed the cattle and the horses though…Maybe the Pioneer Woman will let me come visit her ranch so I can get my fix and also cook up scrumptious meals from her cookbook.
