I travel the world and am truly amazed with the sights, cultures, and people but in my eyes there is no place like home.

Chasing Sunsets in Vieques

This place kills it every single day with the gorgeous sunsets! Mar Azul is by far the best place to watch the sunset in my opinion. But anyplace on the island offers up spectacular pieces of art in the sky.

One day we even got clever and had a fun picnic on the beach to cap off a wonderful day in the sun.

Even those days you don't make it quite in time for the full sunset, you're still granted gorgeous picture perfect views.

Las Iguanas House Snaps

Slowly but surely Las Iguanas is looking more and more like ours. It's brighter, fun, and colorful. Very islandy. We now have hot water and A/C which is huge! I can't wait to share pictures of the newly remodeled bathroom and eventually kitchen. But for now a few snaps of the house from the last trip. Every time we add a new piece of art, a few more pillows, a rug, dishes... I am becoming an expert in taking the maximum amount imaginable in a checked bag and two carry ons lol

Thanks to my obsession with the Funky Beehive and now Sol Creation my closet is looking pretty also. Makes getting dressed so much fun every day, and I obviously am leaning towards a certain color scheme on the island. Where else can you get away with wearing white year round?

We need curtains and more art but it feels more and more like home every time we go. I love our funky new octopus dinnerware from Anthropology.

We are trying to do all local art. Just take our time and find fun pieces that we like. There are so many talented people on the island finding the art won't be a problem, more narrowing down to a few select pieces.

Missing Our Island

Oh beautiful gorgeous Puerto Rico I miss you. I miss your turquoise waters, laid back vibes, fresh coconuts, and endless amounts of sunshine! I kept thinking since it was summer here I could be happy with our great weather, green grasses, pretty flowers, and sunshine but nope keep thinking I really want to go visit our little house and island!

I want no schedule, hours to lounge on the beach enjoying cocktails or coconut water, finishing one book after another, and just unwinding. Trying to wait until winter so it's more of an adventure but may give in and squeeze in a trip before then. Anyone else crave island life even in the midst of summer?

Vieques Sunsets from Mar Azul

We have a favorite spot on the island for watching the sunset, it is without a doubt Mar Azul in Isabel II. We have tried several other places but honestly no where compares. This place has gorgeous gorgeous views, a fun deck overlooking the water, and really reasonable priced drinks. The Pain Killer is delic and the wine is actually quite good as well. Of course there is always the local beer Medalia.

Sometimes the nature whisperer (sure there is a more authentic name for him but I can't think of what it would be) is even present working his magic trying to bring peace and harmony to the island.

You can watch the boats come in for the evening and the sky change all kinds of pretty colors.

And once the sun is fully set you still have twinkle lights and the ferry lights, and if you're lucky it Will be karaoke night...

Running the Island

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times I absolutely LOVE running in Vieques. It is just so gorgeous there, it's always a challenge, and it's a great way to make me feel less guilty about the cocktails that are sure to be consumed throughout the day.

I have a favorite route where I run through Isabel II towards the ferry and then to Bravos area ending at La Chata beach for a few moments of solidarity and unwinding before heading back.

Most runs happen in the morning when the weather is perfect, but occasionaly I sneak in a sunset run as well. Regardless I am never disappointed and always finish feeling revived.

You always get gorgeous views of the water for if not all of the run at least a good portion, you get to see the town in an entirely different light, you see homes you would otherwise probably miss, whifs of the pretty flowers,  and of course you hang out with the horses.
