Camper Heaven

I've always dreamed of an Airstream. Right now instead I have an 80's driveable beauty. But hey it's still a camper, it runs, and it was a bargain. I am itching to fix it up but nothing really motivated me. That is until I stumped upon Sarah Schneider's amazing amazing blog and her collaboration with my fav - Anthropology. Can I please just steal this camper?

I mean the entire thing is to die for. Talk about perfection.

Love the use of tile, wallpaper, and mirros to add to the glam factors.

I even love the bathroom.

Some of this is so easy to do in my own little camper - especially now that we have an Ikea nearby and I know I could do this on the cheaper side. It may require hours at the sewing machine but it's winter now so I am fully A OK with this task.

We don't have the extra bedroom but the rest is somewhat similiar. I really really need to transform my camper into this perfect little slice of camper heaven. Don't you agree??

Fourth of July, Fireworks, Firearms, Friends, and Family

 

We had such an amazing Fourth of July this year. At the last minute we decided to invite a few extra friends to our cabin for the holiday.

Guns were shot.

 

 

 

Fireworks were set off.

Great food and drinks were enjoyed.

And a lot of fresh country air was inhaled.

Nights were spent in the camper.

Small town Street dances enjoyed.

Just a perfect weekend celebrating our countries independence. I feel blessed without a doubt! Sadly I didn't end up with a single photo of my dad or grandpa from this weekend :(

Our First Camping Trip in the Holiday Rambler

Our fist camping trip in the Holiday Rambler was a complete success! We all loved every minute of it. My dad, Grandpa, and Rhonda only half camped (they didn't stay over night) ;) but we had a great time together enjoying the views, the company, and the new to us motor home. We made delicious campfire dinners, snacks, and breakfast, played cards, got eaten alive by bugs, enjoyed the cool night air, and most important spent quality time together.

I can't wait to go on another camping adventure, next time for a few days instead of just one. We are so lucky to have the Niobrara State Park a mere two miles from our cabin so it makes camping crazy easy. I also can't believe what a bargain this motor home was. Everything works like a charm! Obviously it's quite dated but at the same time it was clean and free of any stains or odd smells once I put some elbow grease into it. I am sure in the near future we will undertake a modernization and revamping of the Rambler but for now it works just fine.

Introducing the Holiday Rambler

My youngest brother named our newest toy the Holiday Rambler - love it! I will be the first to admit when my dad sent a text (well had my brothers send a text) saying I needed to hurry up and get to an auction as he had a camper for me to look at I thought without a doubt this was a joke. No way do I want this questionable drive-able camper. Especially as I highly doubted it even ran. The camper of my dreams is a pull behind vintage airstream.

However after further inspection the inside held a whole lot of charm and potential and was in such good shape (albeit quite dated) I started to come around to the idea. I mean I have always wanted a camper and here is one just begging for a new home and someone to bring it back to life. We also found out it does indeed not only drive but runs like a champ! 

Before the day was over I was all on board with the crazy 1980's camper and it's charm and potential. Add in the fact we were able to snag it for a total steal and I felt like it was a win win situation! So here she is in all her glory just waiting for a little glamification.....

Road trips and glamping are in my future, my dad has even agreed to go on a road trip or two in this beauty! If you know my dad you know this is a total shocker. He might like the camper even more than my mom and I! I have of course been pouring over camper renovations for ideas. Stay tuned for more pictures.

It goes to a local mechanic for an inspection this week - hoping it passes the test and we can drive it on a maiden voyage to a Billy Currington concert in Crete, NE next month! 

Dreaming of a Camper Trailer

I never thought I would utter these words – but I may buy a camper trailer! Yes this is coming from the girl that hates camping. On my weekend run I spotted a camper for sale. It was priced very cheap and seemed in ok condition. The remainder of my run I couldn’t stop thinking about the camper. The fun trips I could go on, how useful it would be for Ragbrai, camping in Niobrara, etc…By the time I returned home I knew I needed this trailer. The next day my mom, dad, and I checked out the trailer but it was dark. Justin and I returned for a follow up visit.

The inside is not quite drool worthy at the moment.



But I have high hopes for this little camper after my family and I put our talents to work on it. Others have transformed worse looking campers into vacation havens. Check out what the The Wanderlusters (http://thewanderlusters2009.blogspot.com/) did with their camper:

Crazy how cute and cozy you can make these campers! I keep dreaming about how I will decorate it and where I will travel. Even my mom had a dream about it! Hopefully this weekend we will finally go purchase and pick up the camper so I can start working on its transformation!!
