I travel the world and am truly amazed with the sights, cultures, and people but in my eyes there is no place like home.

Sugarland

Was an AMAZING concert! They were crazy, lively, spunky, and just so much fun!

Their songs are super fun catchy tunes that everyone remembers the words to - lots of opportunities for a sing-a-long. To top it all off we had Rock Star seating thanks to Ticket Express.

We could almost touch the band – and really who doesn’t want that luxury? If you ever need tickets contact Chad at Ticket Express and he’ll make sure he gets you tickets to that sold out show or sports event of your dream – or rock star seats up close and personal with the band/team!

Hello Lovely Garden

Excited for the produce you are soon to provide, and loving the beautiful flowers you have already supplied!

So excited to start enjoying ripe tomatoes fresh from the vine, beets and carrots right from the soil! Harvest time always ensures tasty and healthy meals!

The Dining Room Needs This!

This Chandelier is just calling for a spot in our cabin dining room. I need a Pottery Barn coupon so I can purchase it with no guilt. It fits into the overall décor and looks much more modern and fun than the current chandelier. I am almost embarrassed to even show you but here it is….

Lovely right? Actually it’s not horrendous just doesn’t fit at our cabin.

Outdoor Concerts

Are a summer essential. So casual and fun. Something you just can’t recreate in a convention center or arena. Anyone else love summer concerts? I feel so lucky that we have Stir Concert Cove that supplies us when an endless array of great options.

Boar’s Head Spa

I was in Charlottesville, VA for JAG training. It turned out to be a rough few weeks for me – capped off with a root canal of all things! After that I decided to treat myself to my first ever Anthropology shopping experience and a visit to the Spa. A friend recommend Boar’s Head Inn and I can’t rave about it enough.

The setting was breathtaking, serene, and relaxing.

And the Spa was amazing. The staff went above and beyond, it was pristine, and included all kinds of extra touches to make you feel pampered (loose leaf tea, fluffy robes, real sandals, individual shower sponges – combs – etc… for after the spa).

I had a massage, facial, and enjoyed the steam room. Heaven! Followed by smoothie compliments of the resorts bartender! If you are in the area I highly suggest a visit!

Sunset in the Sky

The sunset outside my airplane window was too gorgeous not to snap a few photos of!

Sunflowers from the Garden

Are bringing me cheer today at the office! Nothing beats fresh flowers, especially those handpicked right from the garden or yard.

Union Pacific Home Plate

I am way behind on College World Series (CWS) pictures so time to catch up. This was the first year at TD Ameritrade stadium and personally I loved the new location and new stadium! One bonus feature was the Union Pacific Home Plate loacted right next to the new Stadium.

They brought in the iconic No. 844 steam locomotive:

I found out my great grandfather actually designed the cover on these original steam engines!

A fleet of historic Heritage cars were parked near the very site where the transcontinental railroad began!

And invited guests to come enjoy the cars, view, and history:

My grandpa retired from the UP so this was a lot of fun letting him relieve his memories of working on these trains and hearing stories about the olden days. I had a great evening with him!

Highway 12

Highway 12 goes past our land and through the town of Niobrara.

Right now a solid portion of it is closed due to the flooding.

We can’t even access our land which is a lil sad. If you look at the below pictures and look towards the right you can see a little white house. That is our old cabin (which I wish was still habitable as out in the peaceful country!).

Crazy all the water surrounding the Highway.

And how the road slowly becomes the river….

The bridge in the background is Chief Standing Bear Bridge which connects Niobrara, NE to Springfield, SD.

It is currently closed as well since access on the NE side is under water.

Front Porch Swinging

I love having a front porch, and love love love the porch swing. For some reason having a porch swing has always been a big deal even though I don’t particularly like to sit on said swing as I get motion sick…

Every year my porch is starting to feel a lil more inviting. Now if I could just find a bit more time to relax with a glass of wine and good book!

Just for fun this was the state of my porch only a few short years ago (2009) when I returned home from Kuwait!
