I travel the world and am truly amazed with the sights, cultures, and people but in my eyes there is no place like home.

A Lil Bit Country

Don’t we look like real cowboys and cowgirls?

Ok maybe not but fun to pretend. I would love to share the statement made to my brother Justin but it's not blog appropriate. We have started this group (mostly family with a few friends thrown in) that circuits the country concerts. It is so much fun getting decked out in country gear, meeting for drinks pre concert, and enjoying the concert.

I think half the fun is picking out our country gear! A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to snag tickets to LeAnn Womack

Reba McIntyre

And George Straight!!!

Such a great mixture of performers who put on an outstanding show (even from the nose bleed seats) Can’t wait for the summer concerts we have lined up at Stir Concert Cove!

Furniture delivery

It was so much fun to stay over night in our cabin! Even if we had to sleep on the floor:

One night of floor sleeping made the arrival of my new bed extremely exciting!

Please excuse the crazy hair – it was windy out...or at least that is my excuse. After furniture was delivered and the jeep unpacked we ventured down to the river to gather some “flowers” otherwise known as weeds for decorations.

The river is so relaxing when no one is around – a great place to unwind.

At one point I looked over and realized the location of the jeep would make for a great Jeep off road adventure advertisement!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I have more fun Niobrara photos to share as spent the weekend up there with my parents working in the yard and creating a chalk board wall.

Spring is finally here to stay!!

Aeisha and I are loving every minute of it.

Feels amazing to walk outside not bundled up, to see sunshine throughout the day, to feel warm when exercising outdoors. This long brutal winter has definitely made me very appreciative of Spring and Summer! I was so excited about the turn of seasons that I decided to plant a few spring flowers to tide me over until I can fill the pots with a summery mix.

Last night I noticed our local hardware shop setting up all the flowers/trees/shrubs. Talk about being a kid in a candy shop – took everything I had not to go in and start scooping up the pretty flowers and greenery.

My Backyard Needs this!

I am heading to Pottery Barn this weekend to buy linens for my new cabin bedroom. I was doing a little online browsing first and came across this daybed.

I would LOVE this for my backyard. Would make for the perfect spot to curl up with a good book or magazine and relax outside enjoying this lovely weather. Maybe it will go on sale soon or I will find a coupon. I have plans to finally landscape the backyard this summer so the perfect time for a bit of furniture as well.

Gourmet Dinning in the Great Outdoors

I recently found the website for Outstanding in the Field and am in love with this idea/concept. This group travels the country setting up outdoor dinning rooms in spectacular settings and the local farmer brings their produce to create a meal and answers questions about their farm. The meal is paired with wine and each diner brings their own plate which adds to the eclectic feel of the event.

What a cool cool way to utilize the talents of local farmers and chefs, and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

This tour is scheduled to stop in Waukee, Iowa the 29th of July and I very much want to gather a few friends and attend. It is so unique and fun.

To me there is nothing better than country life, mix this with gourmet locally grown food, excellent wine, and good friends and you are in store for a very fun and relaxing evening.

I actually think this would be fun to do locally as well – we are staring a Farmer’s Market in Council Bluffs so maybe an addition to that would be a semi monthly dinner at the gorgeous farms in the area.

We are officially the proud owners of 24 Spruce!!

My parents closed on the cabin today. I am very excited for fun, relaxation, and many memories being made with family and friends. I already purchased furniture and it is scheduled for delivery next Tuesday! Looks like a road trip (or more likely several) in the near future. I am looking forward to seeing the home without several inches of snow - wonder what the yard looks like? Right now you step through the door and feel as though you have entered a time machine that has transplanted you back to the 70’s. Ugh – a few detail shots to tide you over (or make you shudder!!) until we start transitioning the home into a modern country retreat.

Very ready to tear out, paint, replace, and update! But for the first few months plan to just enjoy the summer and the great outdoors.
