I should have tried a sprint triathlon first but too late now.

E thank you so much for the words of encouragement! I definitely agree that the most important thing is that we are out there working towards a goal and enjoying every minute of it. I can't wait. So much easier to train when you have a purpose. You have really progressed from the looks of your blog.

Sounds like I definitely need to go buy a Tri top and shorts as both of you wore. That is an excellent idea.Melissa Marie Headhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02050220380818991476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-782488147145942690.post-6031626789757196802009-03-26T22:20:00.000+03:002009-03-26T22:20:00.000+03:00I drank (and smoked a little) on Saturdays after m...I drank (and smoked a little) on Saturdays after my long runs/workouts as a reward.

As for transitions--I never bought the fancy bike shoes, so transitioning from biking to running was a cinch.

I wore a tri top and padded pike shorts for all three events...then again, I've only done mini-tris (swim 500, bike 10, run 3.2)Kansas Sity Sinichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17589589835104547440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-782488147145942690.post-86108165768477565882009-03-25T22:06:00.000+03:002009-03-25T22:06:00.000+03:00Thanks for the encouragement! That is amazing you ...Thanks for the encouragement! That is amazing you have done that many marathons. I am not too stressed about the half marathon as have been on a training plan for that and right on course. I do the shorter runs during the week and the long run on Saturday.

I am mostly worried about the triathlon as don’t feel as prepared for that. Plus all the transitions. Any advice for the triathlon? I do think group training is better and have been doing it about ½ group ½ solo.

Silly question but did you drink (alcohol) at all during training? Just seems overkill to have to not have any drinks.Melissa Marie Headhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02050220380818991476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-782488147145942690.post-26301080037032626182009-03-25T21:21:00.000+03:002009-03-25T21:21:00.000+03:00I've ran 4 marathons, 3 half marathons and done tw...I've ran 4 marathons, 3 half marathons and done two mini-triathlons.

If I can do it, anyone can do it!

I highly recommend training with a group...it's very difficult to go at it on your own.

If you're going to train for a half, make Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays your running days (Saturday is your long running day).

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays save for weight lifting, yoga, swimming, elliptical--basically any activity BUT running.

Saturday after you have your long run, you can eat junk for that day only.

Sunday is rest day.

Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions! :-)Kansas Sity Sinichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17589589835104547440noreply@blogger.com
